Professionals of the JSC DONAERODORSTROY continue to construct the second stage of the regional common-use automobile road to the Platov Airport.

The first stage of the automobile road to the Platov Airport was commissioned in November 2017. 12 of 16 kilometers of the existing road, starting from the Northern bypass junction, have 2 traffic lanes. In the air harbor area, the road is expanded to 4 lanes. However, following the instructions by the Governor of the Rostov Region Vasily Golubev, the road constructors built the road base taking into account subsequent expansion of the highway.

The construction work on the implementation of the second stage — expansion of the existing regional road — was started immediately after the end of the World Cup matches on July 17, 2018.

The implementation of this project will allow interconnecting the federal highway M-23 Rostov-on-Don — Taganrog (to the border of Ukraine) with the M-4 Don highway and a number of large industrial and residential districts of Rostov-on-Don determining high traffic intensity along the Bypass.

Currently, about 50 specialists of DONAERODORSTROY work on the new 12-km section in two shifts every day. More than three dozen units of machinery, such as excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, rollers and dump trucks, are involved in the facility.

During the construction, the road workers managed to build 10 kilometers of upper layer of the road base. In some areas, the subgrade works go on.

Bridge workers of the construction division No. 868, a branch of the DONAERODORSTROY joint-stock company, also work at the facility at an accelerated pace. About 40 specialists of the construction division erect three bridges across the Tuzlov and Bolshoy Nesvetai rivers, the Rubezhnaya ravine and build two overpasses on the site. The range of construction equipment includes a crane, a drilling machine, loaders, excavators and mixers.

According to the chief engineer Viktor Zarzhetsky, «Today, the construction is ahead of the schedule. By September 2019, the residents of the Don Region will receive a full-fledged modern four-lane highway going not only to the Platov International Airport, but also to the south of our country — to the Crimea and Krasnodar Territory bypassing Rostov-on-Don on the West.»

After completion of the additional lanes, the highway and its bridges will belong to the first technical category.
